What began as a small barrel fire turned into a massive brush fire on Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials with the Sinton Fire Department say the dry, uncut grass on rural land acted as the perfect kindling for the flames. Additionally, they say wind helped the fire spread from property to property.

Several fire departments in the area responded to the fire with brush trucks to extinguish the fire. Trucks had to switch out and refill their water tanks for the duration of the fire.

Multiple homes and structures were threatened by the quick-moving flames; officials say two trailers were demolished, one of them wasn't being used.

As of right now, officials have not released who started the barrel fire.
