CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Martin Middle School was evacuated just after 9 a.m. Monday after the Corpus Christi Fire Department responded to a small fire in a restroom on campus.
A CCFD battalion chief said the source of the fire was a toilet paper dispenser, and that a student may have intentionally set it on fire. A janitor spotted it and dumped it into the toilet to put the fire out.
Authorities said the fire produced a lot of smoke in the area so the school was evacuated as a precaution.
