A big milestone happened Thursday at the Corpus Christi Army Depot as the facility produced its 1000th T-55 engine.
The engines built in the Coastal Bend are refurbished from previously used helicopters. The T-55's are on Chinook helicopters, which are said to be a workhorse of the U.S. Army because of the amount of weight they carry and their speed.
"I'm extremely proud," said Colonel Alan Lanceta, Commander of the CCAD. "On a daily basis."
Those who helped assemble the engines were honored at a celebration.
