CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The recent deadly school shooting in Colorado is definitely on the minds of people, especially those in charge of school security like Corpus Christi Independent School District Police Chief Kirby Warnke.
Warnke sent 3News a video while attending the inaugural Central Texas meeting of the Texas School Safety and Security Council. He is a member of that group and was there for the meeting.
The group was founded to try and address rising concerns around safety at schools.
"What we do is think about school safety every single day, Monday through Friday, and twice on Sundays, and it just helps us ensure what we're doing is best practices," Warnke said.
The conference focused Wednesday on hardening school buildings. An example of that would be a door which is virtually indestructible and window glass that can't be broken.
