Corpus Christi police are investigating an attempted abduction that occurred Tuesday afternoon on St. Andrews Drive near Holly and Everhart.

Police said a 10-year-old boy was walking home from school when he was approached by a man driving a silver SUV.

The man allegedly tried to persuade the boy to get into the vehicle, but luckily the boy's grandfather saw the interaction.

"I noticed that guy was still talking to him. So I hollered for him or whistled at him to come towards me. And then I stepped out in the middle of the street. And then guy apparently told him to come on, or come here. And then after that, after he saw me in the middle of the street he told him never mind," Rudy Pena said,

According to Pena the SUV fled the neighborhood, only to return a short time later, that is when Pena called the police.

Pena describes the driver as a Hispanic man in his mid-60's.
