CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Coastal Bend Blood Center say they are in urgent need of type O Positive blood to fill the current needs at local hospitals and medical facilities.
The blood center hopes to have some people come forward to replenish the supply soon.
“During the summertime, all blood centers throughout the world face these difficulties, again, you never know when this might hit home. You never know when it's going to be yourself or a family member or a loved one and you want to make sure that that blood is going to be on our shelves because it's the blood on the shelves that saves lives. If we all really understood that, it would make a difference,” said Ashley Ramirez with the blood center.
Residents can donate at the Coastal Bend Blood Center: 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the week and until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Residents can call (361) 855-4943.
Friday donation busses will be at the 'first home health care' in Alice from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Friday there will also be donation busses at the San Patricio County association of Realtors' in Portland from 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Residents can call 361-855-4943 to set up and appointment to donate.
