CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The House of Rock Downtown was packed Wednesday night as filmmakers from all walks of life celebrated the official kick-off of the Corpus Christi 7-Day Film Project.

Directors only have seven days to complete a film from beginning to end. Each film must contain a line, plot, object, and character with a specific name.

According to organizers, they are trying something different in 2019 to keep the competition fresh.

"We have some cool elements. we're going to be doing something a little different with the fourth element, and we're excited to see how the movies turn out," chair Stephanie Garcia said.

The movies are due Wednesday, July 17 and then there will be a special viewing party at the Alamo Drafthouse on Sept. 1.
