CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Corpus Christi Independent School District is sending out a call for help saying they are in desperate need of bus drivers.

The CCISD is about 50 drivers short of the number needed to cover their routes. According to officials, they are losing out on licensed drivers going to work in the oil field.

"Last couple of years we've become very competitive from the standpoint of pay. $15 an hour starting pay with no experience. Of course, with the experience, that experience is factored into your salary also," Director of Transportation Kyle Pelichet said.

The district will be hosting job fairs to try to generate more interest.
