Moody High School's Special Hearts Prom was held Wednesday afternoon for a group of special education students who normally could not take part in the dance.
The students got to dress up and let loose on the dance floor.
It's an event that Marena Reyna has been looking forward to all school year, and by her side was Moody Senior Isaiah DeLeon.
"It's a great experience. You get to do something really nice and sweet for the kids," DeLeon said. "Have a fun time for them, and in turn, makes my day too."
The Special Hearts Prom is held every year, and the special education students' parents get to be included as well.
"They are not a part of that due to medical disabilities or medical conditions. They aren't able to attend that event. This gives them that moment during the day with all the bells and whistles," said Principal Sandra Clemente. "It's such a joyful event."
It's a high school experience the students would have missed out on if not for all of the people who helped put on the dance, like the students at Aveda Salon who volunteered their time to provide hair and makeup for the girls.
Students from the senior class like Sammy Silva offered their company as escorts to the dance.
"My date is very beautiful, smart, funny," Silva said.
There was even a crowning of a King, Queen, and Royal Court, which made Kendra Berlanga truly feel like a princess.
"Winning princess," Berlanga said. "It's delightful. It's like I feel like an angel. I can be myself in life."
This was the 15th year the school has hosted a Special Hearts Prom.
