Man dies after drowning at JP Luby Surf Park

The man was rushed to Bay Area Hospital where doctors continued to revive him but were unfortunately unsuccessful.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — 60-year-old Kevin Moore died after being pulled from the surf on JP Luby Beach Thursday afternoon.

Lifeguards jumped into action pulling Moore out and immediately started CPR on him before EMS arrived.

Moore was rushed to Bay Area Hospital where doctors continued to revive him but were unfortunately unsuccessful.

Officials are still unsure if Moore had a medical emergency while in the water or if he got pulled into a rip current, but they do know he was out alone.

Police said he was from out of state and they are still investigating the cause of death.

"I thought it was crazy one minute guy was over there sitting in his chair and then the next thing he's getting his chest pumped or whatever," witness Anthony Ingalls said. "Way out there in water just standing around didn't really pay any mind to it."
