Nueces County Clerk Kara Sands announced that she is running for reelection in 2017.

Sands was elected in 2014, and Sands said she started receiving calls from people who were curious if she was planning to run again after the tragic loss of her sister on October 25.

Sand said suffering such a loss is tragic, but she is committed to serving her constituents.

"I love serving the folks, and I love helping them, and we always wanna get better and want to make the office more efficient and run more smoothly and providing great customer service for the folks that we do serve. and I work for them," Sands said.

During Sands' term, she watched voting centers open up countywide, and individuals cast a ballot at any police location. Sand also help start the 'Thank a Vet" program which now serves over $25,000 veterans.
