Former County Commissioner Peggy Banales is throwing her hat in the ring for a chance to refill her former position.

According to the Caller Times, Banales is looking to take over Mike Pusley's spot while he runs for judge. Banales formally applied in January. She is a familiar face as she served one term as commissioner from 2004 to 2008.

Other candidates for the position include Corpus Christi City Council member Carolyn Vaughn, Robert Hernandez, and CEO of the Corpus Christi Black Chamber of Commerce Sylvia Oliver.
