First responders and utility workers took part in a gasline rupture response class Friday at the Oxy Energy Center in Ingleside for Corpus Christi Safety Day.
Texas 811, a non-profit aimed at promoting digging safety, put together the pipeline response class. Those attending saw first-hand what could happen if a line is ruptured and learned what steps need to be taken while handling the aftermath.
"A utility line, like a gas line, it may be installed at a certain depth and over time it's not required at that same depth," David Ferguson said. "That line may be shallow when you start to dig, especially in older neighborhoods."
Before you start digging, call 811. For more information, click here.
