The Art Museum of South Texas will host the 18th annual Visionarios Youth & Art Contest, an event that showcases artwork from students all over the Coastal Bend.

Entry submission for the contest is free and begins at 9 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 1. This year's exhibition theme is S.T.E.M: science, technology, engineering, and math.

Students will have the chance to portray the concepts in hopes of winning cash prizes.

The mission of the Museum is to advance the awareness, knowledge, appreciation, and enjoyment of visual arts for everyone.

Art teacher Dawn Jagger has been teaching art for 17 years and still gets excited about the annual exhibition.

"It is just one of the highlights of my career. To see these kids succeed and do really well gets me really pumped," Jagger said.

The Museum teamed up with Flint Hill Resources for the event.
