Grant to buy synthetic human cadavers for GPISD students to study

The new models are part of a $250,000 grant awarded to the district from the Jobs and Education for Texans grant.

Corpus Christi (KIII News) — Students at Gregory-Portland High School have a new way to study the human body thanks to a special grant.

The district will be welcoming two brand new synthetic human cadavers, also known as SynDavers. Each model cadaver gives students the chance to see how muscles and joints work in real-world scenarios.

The new models are part of a $250,000 grant awarded to the district from the Jobs and Education for Texans grant. The grant money comes as part of a partnership between the district and Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend.

Students will train to use SynDaver beginning in January.
