Kleberg County officials received a check for $43,000 Monday from the McKinstry company, a firm specializing in creating energy-saving buildings.
The total represents all the money saved so far by the County since they've made some energy savings adjustments to their buildings.
"Again, these upgrades were done at no cost to our taxpayers. That was key. That was the objective here," Kleberg County Judge Rudy Madrid said. "I wanted to be able to create a program that will not only save us money but it also wasn't going to cost our taxpayers."
All County buildings underwent an energy makeover except for the Kleberg County Courthouse, which is going through its own restoration right now.
