Mobile career center unveiled at City Hall

The cost for the mobile center was around $325,000 and can be sent anywhere a natural disaster has occurred or a business who has announced layoffs.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A state of the art mobile career center was unveiled Thursday by officials from Workforce Solutions of the Coastal Bend.

The mobile center provides a place for counselors and computers for job seekers to look for work, prepare a resume, and get whatever help they need from Workforce personnel.

The cost for the mobile center was around $325,000 and can be sent anywhere a natural disaster has occurred or a business who has announced layoffs.

"A natural disaster occurred, and we didn't have something like this. If that ever occurs again, we're going to be prepared to deploy it to Port Aransas, to Rockport or wherever that need is. It also allows us to deliver those services at a high school, for career exploration. It allows us to deploy it to faith-based community or where that actual need is," president Ken Trevino said.

According to officials at Workforce Solutions, they've already had requests for the mobile career center which includes upcoming job fairs.
