The final numbers are in and diapers counted for the 7th annual USO Diaper Drive. According to organizers with the USO of South Texas and the Corpus Christi Black Chamber of Commerce. over 43,000 diapers were dropped off during Friday's drive.

The annual event sponsored by H-E-B, the Corpus Christi Police Department, and the Nueces County Sheriff's Office gives back to local military families in need.

Sarah Banta, Executive Director of the USO, says the organization serves as a stopping place for military personnel and their families to grab whatever they need while traveling.

"Sometimes you get stuck in the airport overnight with a baby. And you only packed enough diaper supplies for maybe one day and then all of a sudden your travel is 48 hours so the USO has been providing that service for a long time," said Sarah Banta.

Last year more than 15,000 diapers and $6,000 dollars in cash were collected. Organizers for this year's event say 43,020 diapers, 42,336 wipes, and $1,025 dollars in cash were collected at the KIII studios.
