CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Dozens of your residents gathered together Thursday night to help the Purple Door raise money for a worthy cause.

Thursday's fundraiser was for the shelter at Katz 21 on Sophn Drive near Saratoga.

The mission of Thursday special event is to get more young people involved in the shelter's mission of ending domestic violence and sexual assault in the Coastal Bend.

"We are recruiting ambassadors tonight. So basically champions. Young professionals who are 25-ish to 35-ish to host a fundraiser of their choice to help the purple door financially," board member Shelby O'Brien said.

Attendees learned everything they need to know to go out and start their fundraising opportunities.

Board members with the Purple Door hope it gets another generation involved in their mission.
