Someone to Know: Silver Advocates Partners looking out for the elderly

Besides partnering with other non-profits to raise money throughout the year to accomplish their goal, they held a collection drive focused solely on food, clothing, and blankets.

Corpus Christi (KIII News) — Silver Advocates Partners is looking out for South Texas' elderly. The nonprofit is behind the holiday care packages that show up under their trees for the holidays.

Chairman Rudy Moreno has no time during the holiday season for abuse or neglect of seniors.

"This is the time of year where many families have less than others. So this is the time to share," Moreno said.

Silver Advocates Partners works closely with Adult Protective Services to promote awareness about crimes against elders and those with special needs. Besides partnering with other non-profits to raise money throughout the year to accomplish their goal, they held a collection drive focused solely on food, clothing, and blankets.

"People nowadays are looking for XBox and PlayStations and materialistic things. Also, these items are basic things a lot of families don't have. So we try to put that under the tree, so it's one less thing to worry about," Moreno said.

50 care packages are being given to caseworkers who know their clients the best.
