Oyster summit coming to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a new oyster farming bill.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The first-ever Texas Oyster Aquaculture Summit is coming to Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi Wednesday.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed a new oyster farming bill.

The event will feature experts talking about how a new oyster farming bill signed into law by Governor Greg Abbott will take off and how you can get permits for oyster farming. If that doesn't interest you, there will also be oyster tasting!

State Rep. Todd Hunter said he is very excited for the event.

"It's a big economic boom. We've got a lot of great speakers and what better place to kick it off than the Coastal Bend?" Hunter said.

The event runs from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday in the Anchor Ballroom at TAMUCC's University Center. It is free and open to the public.
