Police respond to rollover accident after driver falls sleep at the wheel

The driver was given a citation for unsafe change from a direct course and failing to remain in his own lane.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Police are warning drivers to avoid driving tired after a man was lucky to escape injury in an accident Friday morning.

According to police, the driver fell asleep behind the wheel on Highway 358 near Leopard Street. He veered off the road and hit the barriers, causing his vehicle to flip over.

When police arrived at the scene the man was already out of the car. He has some bumps and bruises but is expected to be okay.

The driver was given a citation for unsafe change from a direct course and failing to remain in his own lane.

Police remind drivers that if you do feel tired while driving, be sure to pull over or stop to take a break to avoid accidents.
