PORT ARANSAS, Texas — The Port Aransas Independent School District superintendent was recognized Wednesday as Superintendent of the Year for the Coastal Bend.
Sharon McKinney saw the district through Hurricane Harvey and the recovery efforts. She was awarded the recognition during a ceremony at the Education Service Center in downtown Corpus Christi.
"It means a lot to me but also our district because we kinda believe that when one of us is recognized for achievements, it is all of us being recognized for the hard work that goes on in Port Aransas ISD," McKinney said.
McKinney will continue to Austin where she will interview to potentially become Superintendent of the State.
