Reports of pipeline rupture near Driscoll turn out to be controlled release

Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible as road closures may be necessary.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Reports of a ruptured pipeline near Driscoll, Texas, Tuesday morning turned out be a controlled release from an area business, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

The Texas Department of Transportation reported just before 10 a.m. Tuesday a pipeline rupture near Driscoll, Texas.

According to TxDOT's Corpus Christi district, reports they received indicate the rupture happened near FM 665 and County Road 75, east of Driscoll. They said road closures may be necessary so for drivers to avoid the area if possible.

However, according to the Driscoll Fire Department the reports stemmed from a controlled release from an area business.

TxDOT crews responded to the scene and confirmed to 3News that the rupture was, in fact, a controlled a release.
