Residents get stuck on washed out roads in Duval County

The dozer's owner is Aaron Lee, he and his family said they often come out to help clear and level roads during and after flooding.

Duval County (KIII News) — Two residents got stuck on a watery and muddy road Tuesday evening and needed to be rescued in Duval County.

3News photographer Preston West was out in the neighborhood in the La Copita area on County Road 240 to get a video and interview where he saw a man getting stuck in the mud with his dozer.

"He was trying to help, try to make a low spot smooth, low spot and he was unlucky and fell into the creek," said Alfonso La Fuente, Duval County Precinct 2.

The dozer's owner is Aaron Lee, he and his family said they often come out to help clear and level roads during and after flooding.

According to Lee and a neighbor, the roads are incredibly narrow with deep potholes and loose gravel, and they wish they'd get help from the County.

"Yeah, I mean it's the same way for us. We have to drive out here, too, so the better we make the road for ourselves, the better we make the road for everybody else. The same thing with emergency services, someone gets hurt out here right now, you're not going to get an ambulance or a firetruck out here," Lee said.

"They are pretty bad. Roads are not maintained the way they should. We need more gravel in here and more trimming of the trees. Sometimes the roads are so close together that only one vehicle can pass by," resident Bartolita Luna said.
