Robstown ISD receives $200,000 grant for dual-credit programs

The school can now buy and install equipment to provide students with training in jobs involving chemical plant and system operators.

ROBSTOWN, Texas — The Robstown Independent School District received quite the recognition Wednesday for their dual-credit programs.

The school district was awarded a nearly $200,000 grant by the Texas Workforce Commission to focus on supporting high demand jobs through the "Jobs and Education for Texans" grant program.

The dual-credit program will help Robstown Early College High School further develop its career and technical education programs.

"Not only helps them, their families, the community as a whole but also the state and the industries that are looking for these educated individuals to fill the necessity of these jobs that are being created because of the growth in the energy industry," State Representative Abel Herrero said.

With the help of the grant, the school can now buy and install equipment to provide students with training in jobs involving chemical plant and system operators.
