Rollover accident in Calallen sends five people to hospital

DPS said three children in the truck might not have been strapped in correctly and were transported to Driscoll Children's Hospital and are in surgery.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Texas Department of Public Safety is working a traffic accident Thursday night on FM 1889 and Northwest Boulevard.

According to DPS, the truck was going over 90 miles an hour when it rolled over.

DPS said three children in the truck might not have been strapped in correctly and were transported to Driscoll Children's Hospital and are in surgery.

Two adults the driver, a man and a woman, were taken to Christus Spohn Shoreline.

According to DPS, the truck had a paper license plate, which could mean it was recently bought.

"The driver, we found out is wanted, probably there were some drugs found in the car, so he's looking at multiple charges, right now along with a warrant from Nueces County," a trooper said.

Because of the number of items thrown from the accident DPS believes the family was in between houses when they found an eviction notice inside the truck.

Thursday night's chase was the second involving law enforcement to end in a crash in Nueces County in less than two weeks.

The victims have not been identified, and children's ages range from 2-7 years old.
