'Science Saturday' at Del Mar College East

The event encourages minority youth to pursue STEM studies

CORPUS CHRISTI — There were no mad scientists at this event, just professionals who are passionate about STEM, also known as Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Del Mar College and Texas A&M Corpus Christi hosted 'Science Saturday' as a way to encourage minority youth to seek studies in STEM fields and eventually careers.

Professionals were stationed throughout DMC's east campus to give lab tours and present demonstrations. Attendees got hands-on with experiments and displays throughout the event.

Additional educational groups were available to tell young scientists, engineers, technicians or mathematicians how they can pursue a career in their chosen field.

For those who were hungry after the event, food trucks parked outside the campus alongside live bands.
