The 38th annual Nueces County Junior Livestock Show has come and gone and organizers said it was another successful year.

The 2017 Nueces County Junior Livestock Show Queen used her time to not only represent the show throughout Texas but she also took the time to write a children's book.

Reagan Hoelscher is Someone to Know.

"I just hope that I'm a good rep for NCJLS," Hoelscher said. "I've worked really hard to be that way and just worked hard in general."

Not only is she a queen but also a sophomore at Tuloso-Midway High School, where she's a member of several clubs.

This year Hoelscher decided to use her time as queen to spread the word about the Livestock Show too little ones by writing a children's book.

"It teaches kids about the show and what it encompasses," Hoelscher said. "The shop project and of course all the animals."

The illustrations were done by young girls she mentored this year.

"Jessenie and Jessenia," Hoelscher said. "They go to London, and they're in third grade."

While Hoelscher's reign ended this Saturday, she hopes she's left behind a legacy that will carry on to other generations.
