'Success by 6' presents ways to help organizations that look after children

The group presented information Thursday about organizations that help children and how the community can help them.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — "Success by 6", a coalition of United Way of the Coastal Bend, focuses on improving childrens' lives.

The group presented information Thursday about organizations that help children and how the community can help them.

According to members of Success By 6, child abuse rates in Nueces County are higher than the state's average, and one in four children struggle with food insecurity -- which is just one of many issues the county still faces.

"It's not one program that can solve these problems. United Way can't do this by themselves. Head Start can't do it by themselves, and any other programs that are working with children, we can't do it by ourselves. Collectively though, we can have an impact," Director Sherry Peterson said.
