CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The family of a Corpus Christi man murdered nearly three years ago finally received justiced in court Wednesday.

A Nueces County jury handed down a guilty verdict in the trial of Fransico Delgado.

Delgado was accused of stabbing 23-year-old Alex Martinez back in June of 2016 at a nightclub in Corpus Christi.

Martinez's family said it has been a long three years waiting for justice to be served, and the last three days while in trial felt even longer.

Delgado's attorney said he stabbed Martinez multiple times out of self-defense, but it only took jurors over 30 minutes to determine it was a cold-blooded murder.

"We're all very happy. That's what we wanted, you know, to hear a guilty verdict," said Jolynn Quiroz, Martinez' cousin. "But like I said, it won't bring him back."

Martinez left behind a wife and a son that he never got to meet.

Court will resume Thursday as jurors deliberate Delgado's punishment.
