KINGSVILLE, Texas — Students at Texas A&M University-Kingsville celebrated Thursday the inauguration of their new university president, Dr. Mark Hussey.

A ceremony was held around 1 p.m. Thursday outside the Foundres Room in Lewis Hall. All of Javelina nation was invited to welcome Dr. Hussey and his wife Melissa.

"The last 10 years we've gone through really unprecedented growth in terms of students, in terms of our research, in terms of construction, so this really marks sort of a break from that and now sort of moving into the next part of our growth as a university," Hussey said.

Hussey said he expects to highlight those programs that are already excellent and improve those that need improving.
