Dr. Steven Tallant will be moving to Minneapolis, MN to spend more time with his son and soon to be new grandbaby.

Kingsville (KIII News) — It was not goodbye at Texas A&M University-Kingsville but see you later for the president as he celebrated his retirement.

Staff and faculty at the university spent Tuesday afternoon sharing their memories with Dr. Steven Tallant during the president's retirement party.

During Tallant's tenure, the university was recognized for being the fastest growing four-year doctoral university in the nation, and it increased student graduation rates by 10-percent.

"Well it's bittersweet, this has been the best and most productive ten years of my life. I feel blessed for being able to come and serve this university and live in south Texas. Also, I'm sad because I'm leaving everybody but as I said life is about moving forward," Tallant said.

According to Tallant, while he is said to be leaving south Texas, he is excited about his new chapter.

Tallant will be moving to Minneapolis, MN to spend more time with his son and soon to be new grandbaby.
