Corpus Christi (KIII News) — The Texas unemployment rate is down to 3.7-percent which is lowest ever since the state started collecting employment data in 1976.

"It's at 4.3 percent. It's down 5/10th of a percent from last month, and 1.2 percent from the same time last year," Monika De La Garza said.

According to Garza, the numbers indicate a healthy job market.

The Corpus Christi metropolitan area have added 4100 jobs over the year making the city a job mecca.

A large amount of employment opportunities are in specific fields.

"1,800 of those are in mining logging and construction, so that gives you a good idea of where the jobs are and what is happening," Garza said.

Maria Dehoios was unemployed for six months and recently moved to Corpus Christi looking for work. She is employed and has finished her first week on the job.

According to Dehoios, it was relatively easy for her to get a job and she had many to choose from.

"Yeah, I did have options. I had a couple of interviews I had interviews," Dehoios said.

If you are unemployed and looking for work, Garza suggests visiting local Work Force Solutions.

October marked the 102 consecutive month Texas has seen annual job growth.
