2 dead, teen flown to Houston after crash involving big rig in Port Arthur, officials say

Officials said one of the three people injured in the crash was flown to Houston and taken to Memorial Hermann.

HOUSTON — Two people are dead and three others are hurt after a crash involving a big rig in the Port Arthur area, which is about 90 miles east of Houston, according to officials.

A teen boy who was hurt in the crash was flown to Houston in critical condition and taken to Memorial Hermann in the Texas Medical Center.

KHOU 11 News was there as the helicopter landed at the hospital with one of the victims. We're told the crash happened late Monday night on State Highway 73, which had to be shut down in both directions.

Video from the scene shows the back end of a car crushed as well as a big rig turned over in the median of the highway.

Officials said an adult man and woman died at the scene. Two other adults were taken to a hospital in Beaumont in an unknown condition. The truck driver did not appear to be injured.
