Town hall scheduled for Sea Pines residents wanting to leave homeowners association

Homeowners Association President Marvin Jones said they have no problem with the group wanting to leave the POA, they just need the correct paperwork.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A group of Padre Island residents believe the Property Owners Association is preventing them from leaving the group.

More than half of the people living in the Sea Pines subdivision recently voted to leave the Padre Island Homeowners Association because they believed their paid dues provided them no benefit. Many said they believe the dues are for residents who have water access, something Sea Pines residents do not have.

Homeowners Association President Marvin Jones said they have no problem with the group wanting to leave the POA, they just need the correct paperwork.

"No one is trying to stop them," Jones said. "We are simply asking them to provide the proper legal paperwork."

Jones said they are sending a letter to Sea Pines residents announcing a town hall meeting to answer their questions. The meeting will be held June 13 at the Holiday Inn Express.
