CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A Tuloso-Midway High School teacher was recognized Monday for her hard work and was given the H-E-B Excellence in Education award.

The award honors South Texas teachers with cash prizes for all the work they do in and out of the classroom.

Representatives with H-E-B, including the H-E-Buddy, were on hand Monday to give Tasha Jones a check and certificate.

"Because these students and I have put in a lot of hours working hard, honing our craft and educating, and today it's truly nice to see the community come out and support teachers," Jones said.

Jones teaches speech and communications at Tuloso-Midway High School.

According to Jones, it is an honor to be chosen for the award, but even more of an honor to bring recognition to the Tuloso-Midway School District.
