The Bee County Sheriff's Office has arrested two teens from Skidmore, Texas, in connection with the murder of 88-year-old Dora Koop.
According to the Sheriff's Office, both 18-year-old Ruben Echavarria and 17-year-old Christopher Diaz were arrested and charged with capital murder.
According to the Sheriff's Office, deputies were called out to a home on the east side of Skidmore Tuesday night after family members had not heard from Koop in two days. Investigators noticed the back door was left open and went inside. They found Koop's body in the back bedroom.
The death was ruled suspicious, and Texas Rangers were called in to help with the investigation. That's when it was determined that they were looking at a homicide case.
According to police, Koop's vehicle was missing from the residence. That vehicle was located at a nearby restaurant, and digital and physical evidence was gathered from the restaurant linking Diaz and Echavarria to the case.
Arrest warrants were obtained for both teens.
The Sheriff's Office said Echavarria turned himself into investigators Wednesday morning and provided a full confession. Diaz turned himself in late Wednesday night and also provided a full confession.
Both teens are being held in the Bee County Jail and are charged with capital murder. Their bonds have been set at $1 million each.
