ARANSAS PASS, Texas — The United States Coast Guard Sector/ Air Station Corpus Christi is investigating a found adrift kayak in the vicinity of the Redfish Bay Causeway adjacent to Highway 361. Currently, the search for the owner of the unmanned kayak has been suspended.

"To help the Coast Guard identify owners of adrift watercraft, the Coast Guard recommends attaching the 'if found - contact' stickers to kayaks, paddleboards, and canoes. These stickers are free and can be found at the Corpus Christi Marina, Roy’s, Academy, and the Coast Guard Auxiliary. When paddle crafts are labeled the Coast Guard can reach out directly to the owner and quickly ascertain if they are in distress or if they simply lost their paddle craft. Confirming the owner is not in distress keeps Coast Guard resources available for actual emergencies. Owners should make sure their paddle craft are stored securely or removed completely from the beaches to avoid them drifting out to sea," stated Coast Guard officials.

The Coast Guard is asking anyone with information on the found kayak to please contact the Corpus Christi Command Center at 361-939-0450.

No other further details are available at this time regarding the found kayak. This is an active investigation and 3News will keep you updated as more details become available.
