CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Cole Einhaus, a U.S. Navy officer from Portland, Texas, has been awarded the 2019 Marvin Shields Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership as operations branch lead petty officer.

The Marvin Shields award is given to those with excellent technical and leadership capabilities that have been performed above the call of duty. In Einhaus' case, he was awarded for leading 28 sailors on 19 global missions gathering 12,370 man-days of mishap-free work in an inherently dangerous industry.

Einhaus' next deployment will be to Djibouti, Africa, as a leading muse technician.
