Veterans Memorial HS seniors attend college for a day at TAMUK

The seniors said the trip was a good experience to find out about the next step in their education.

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A group of Veterans Memorial High School seniors went to college for a day Friday at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.

40 seniors were escorted to various classes and lectures ranging from agriculture to criminal justice and geology. The seniors said the trip was a good experience to find out about the next step in their education.

"I feel like college is more like depending on the notes you take and more like that, but high school they more guide you and college is on your own," student Taylor Silvas said.

"In getting here, they've actually had some time to experience that college is often more laid back than high school campus," Career Councilor Bryan Davis.

According to Davis, in the last graduating class 20 seniors picked TAMUK for careers ranging from engineering to veterinary science.
