Highlights from Tuesday's City-County Coronavirus Press Briefing

Tuesdays number of COVID cases was 29. This number was lower than the number of cases reported Monday which was 239.

NUECES COUNTY, Texas — Tuesday at Corpus Christi City Hall, City-County leaders discussed the latest updates regarding the coronavirus in our community.

Tuesday’s number of new cases was 29. This number lower than the number of cases reported Monday which was 239.

The jump in numbers reported Monday come from another state data dump.
Health officials explained adding the number of cases from the data dump is essential in order to maintain transparency, but should not be a cause to panic.

“It is as we discussed frustrating when we keep getting the state dumps when we think we're doing good,” said Mayor Joe McComb “Then you realize they go back three or four weeks and those people have already recovered while those numbers there and that’s why the governor focuses on those in the hospital."

Mayor McComb says the number of active cases and hospitalizations in our area are what state officials are taking into consideration when it comes to reopening phases. The city-county health district will be offering another round of drive-thru testing Wednesday. Residents who want to be tested for the novel coronavirus can call 361-826-7200.
