Corpus Christi (KIII news) — As more showers make their way to the Coastal Bend on Tuesday TxDOT is offering some smart ways to keep safe while on our wet roadways.

Residents need to make sure all tires are maintained and at the proper pressure and to replace old or brittle wiper blades.

When traveling in heavy rain residents need to be sure they put on their seatbelt and do not make any sudden stops or sharp turns.

In areas where it may flood drivers should stay closest to the middle lane as water tends to pool in outside lanes.
