An unwanted guest caused quite the stir at one downtown hotel Thursday morning after breaking into a storage room and making himself at home.

It happened at the Hotel Corpus Christi Bayfront on North Water Street. Police said the man was planning on living in the storage room, located in the 10th floor of the hotel. Security personnel noticed damage to the door and discovered the intruder.

The man fled, but was caught by police a few blocks way.

"We believe intoxication may have something to do with his decision making process at this point," said Lt. Edward Longoria of the Corpus Christi Police Department. "Slightly intoxicated. Possibly coming off it from no sleep and looking for somewhere to go."

The suspect has been charged with criminal trespassing and has been permanently banned from the hotel.
