Corpus Christi Mayor Nelda Martinez is the newest ambassador for the city, after she and some other local officials graduated from the Convention and Visitor's Bureau's Ambassador Program.
"If you live in Corpus Christi, this is one of the best programs that you can become involved in," Martinez said. "The best four hours spent. You will truly leverage the pride, value and make sure people come back to visit Corpus Christi."
The mayor, along with other local officials and tourist industry workers, graduated from the program and were recognized at Tuesday morning's City Council meeting.
Corpus Christi is just one of a small number of cities across the country to adopt the tourism ambassador program. The program's goal is to turn hospitality workers into well-informed and enthusiastic advocates for their area.
