As the Fourth of July holiday weekend approaches, officials at the Nueces County Jail are taking actions to reduce the threat of overcrowding at that facility.

The jail's population stands at about 70 inmates shy of reaching full capacity. It can hold up to 1,060 inmates. In order to make sure there is room for new arrests this holiday weekend, certain measures are being taken.
