Odem High School was on lockdown for the better part of the day Wednesday after a student allegedly assaulted the principal and threatened to blow up the school.
The altercation happened just after the start of the school day, and involved a 15-year old student. According to sources, the student attempted to strike the principal and then threatened to kill him.
The student then took off and left the campus. San Patricio County Sheriff's deputies swarmed the area, but the young man was not found.
In a letter, Odem High School's Superintendent Lisa Gonzalez said, "Safety procedures were followed after multiple attempts of physical assault upon a campus administrator."
An arrest warrant has been issued for the unnamed teen. Sinton Police Chief Eugenia DeLeon said that, when found, the teen will face charges of assault on a public servant and terroristic threats.
