According to first responders, a van was traveling south on FM 3386 and the other was traveling west on Highway 44. The southbound van did not yield the right of way and struck the westbound van at the intersection. The driver of that van, 67-year old Mary E. Silvas, died at around 6 p.m. from internal injuries.

Six people were in the westbound vehicle. All of them, along with Silvas, were transported to the hospital.
