The remains of three illegal immigrants improperly buried in a Brooks County cemetery have now been identified.
Back in 2013, researchers from Baylor University and the University of Indianapolis began the work of trying to identify those remains in the Sacred Heart Cemetery. The Brooks County Sheriff's Office and the South Texas Human Rights Center then worked to have the remains matched with a name. That task was done using a national database of missing and unidentified persons.
The remains of one other immigrant found in Hidlago County has also been identified and is helping to bring closure to the families of those who died here.
