Residents in Mathis are being asked to boil their water after workers discovered a crack in one of the city's main water pipes. At first, workers couldn't find the leak because of the rain. the city was forced to shut down the system, leaving some residents without water earlier today.

The leak was eventually discovered in a drainage ditch across from the plant and has since been repaired.

Still, the city is urging residents to boil their water for drinking and cooking purposes in order to kill bacteria that might be in the water.

This will not be lifted until the TCEQ tests the water.

We'll keep you updated.
